Scotland’s Andy Murray became the third player to qualify for the 2011 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on 2 September. He will be making his fourth successive appearance (7-4) at the prestigious season finale.
The London resident reached the 2008 semi-finals (l. to Davydenko) on his debut when the event was played in Shanghai, China. He went 3-0 in round robin play, including an exciting three-set win over Roger Federer.
Murray went 2-1 in round robin play the next two years while playing on home soil at The O2. He narrowly missed out on a semi-final berth in 2009 due to game difference. The following year, he came up just short of reaching the final when he lost to Rafael Nadal in a classic, falling in a third-set tie-break after three hours and 12 minutes of play.
