Djokovic wins 1st-round match at Australian Open
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—Novak Djokovic began the defense of his Australian Open title and his quest for a third straight Grand Slam singles title with a 6-2, 6-0, 6-0 victory Tuesday over Paolo Lorenzi.
Djokovic won the last 17 straight games as he wore down his Italian rival with a series of punishing forehands from the back of the court.
The No. 1-ranked Djokovic won Wimbledon and the U.S. Open last year after he won at Melbourne Park—his only loss at a major in 2011 coming in the French Open semifinals.
A win here this year would make him the fifth man to win three straight Grand Slam singles titles in the Open Era, joining Rod Laver, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.- http://sports.yahoo.com
