WTA - Championship 2011 (Winner) 12Bet preview 10/26

Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova would never describe her summer triumph at SW19 as anything other than a blessing, but so far it has not been a gateway to greater things.
In common with the unlikely assortment of Major winners of 2011 she has struggled since achieving a career peaking moment, so much so that it almost looks like there has been a curse on the Grand Slam winners this season.

Although the 21 year-old Czech kicked off the year-end WTA Championships with a 6-2 6-4  round-robin group victory over Russian Vera Zvonareva it has largely been heavy going since her unexpected win over Maria Sharapova in the final at SW19.
The same could be said for her fellow Major victors who, far from surging on to new heights, had amassed a deeply modest collective match record of 33-21 coming into this event since lifting one of the big four trophies.
Kim Clijsters was the first to get into difficulties, after winning the Australian Open title back in January.
After some lacklustre form she went to a cousin's wedding in early April and went over on her ankle while dancing.Having gone on to develop stomach muscle problems she abandoned her season in August after various abortive comebacks (although she is planning to return right at the start of 2012). - http://www.dailymail.co.uk
